Dr. Robert Ford Greene was a ranked American tennis player who competed in tournaments in the United States and Europe. These included the French Open, Wimbledon, U.S. Open and Italian championships.

He holds a Doctoral Degree with Honors from UCLA, was a Director of Athletics at two colleges and a collegiate championship tennis coach. Dr. Greene was elected to the select, eight-member NCAA Tennis Committee, which governs intercollegiate tennis in the U.S., and was president of the Metropolitan Tennis Conference (which included 24 colleges).
Dr. Greene was a full-time Instructor of Tennis at UCLA, Tennis Director at the New York Athletic Club, and Owner and Head Professional at the Riverdale Tennis Club in New York. He has given private lessons for many years, and his students have included leading members of New York's professional society seeking his expertise.
He is the author of the classic Tennis Drills (Hawthorn-Dutton) and Tennis Tactics (G.P.Putnam's). The former book remained in print for 12 years, and the latter was published internationally.
A holder of the Purple Heart award while serving in the United States Marine Corps, Bob Greene fought in the epic Chosin Reservoir battle in North Korea.
